My Love or Golf
Although football has always been my number one sport, golf has quickly become one of my biggest passions. What started as a simple trip to the driving range with my dad has turned into a hobby that I now enjoy every week. Golf has given me a different kind of challenge, one that tests not only your ability but also your patience and determination.
Over the last year, I have learned that golf is about much more than simply hitting a ball around a course. It is about spending time with friends and family, enjoying the outdoors and constantly trying to improve yourself. Every round teaches you something new, and that is one of the reasons I have fallen in love with the game.
How It All Started
My golfing journey began when my dad took me to the driving range for the first time. I can still remember hitting my very first golf ball, and from that moment I was hooked. There was something so satisfying about making good contact and watching the ball fly through the air. I never expected that one visit to the range would lead to me playing every single week.
My dad was also the person who introduced me to playing on an actual course. We went to a small par 3 course, and to be honest, I was awful. I topped shots, missed putts and probably spent more time looking for golf balls than actually hitting them. Even though I wasn’t very good, I had an amazing time because it was something new, and being out on the course was a great experience.
When I first started, everything felt difficult. Golf is easily one of the hardest sports I have ever tried, and there are so many different parts of the game to learn. Just when you think you have figured one thing out, another challenge appears. That is exactly what makes the sport so enjoyable and keeps me wanting to come back for more.

Favourite Memories and Milestones
One of my favourite things about golf is spending time outside with my mates. We play a few times every week, and I hope we will still be playing together for years to come. There is something special about walking around the course, chatting and enjoying each other’s company while trying to hit the perfect shot.
One of my proudest golfing moments so far was making a birdie on the tenth hole at Teesside Golf Club. I had only recently started playing there, and everyone knows it is one of the toughest holes on the course. I managed to hit two perfect shots and then rolled the putt into the hole for birdie. It was one of those moments that makes all the practice worthwhile.
Another milestone came when I shot a personal best score of 37 at Stokesley’s par 3 course. Improving my score by four shots felt like a huge achievement because it showed that all the time and effort I was putting into the game was starting to pay off. Seeing progress in golf is one of the best feelings because it proves that hard work really does make a difference.
Of course, golf is not always perfect. I have hit plenty of balls into the water and have completely topped shots straight off the first tee with loads of people watching. At the time it can feel embarrassing, but everyone laughs about it and moves on. Moments like that are all part of learning the game.

Looking to the Future
One of the things I enjoy most about golf is how different it is from football. Football is fast, physical and full of action, while golf is much more relaxed. It gives me the chance to slow down, talk to my friends and enjoy being outdoors. Having both sports in my life gives me the best of both worlds.
Golf has also taught me a lot about myself. I know that I can sometimes be impatient and have a short temper, especially when things are not going my way. The game has helped me realise that staying calm and accepting mistakes is often the best way to improve. Every golfer hits bad shots, and learning to deal with them is just as important as hitting the good ones.
Looking ahead, my goal is simple. I want to keep playing, keep practising and get a little bit better every day. I know there is still a long way to go, but that is part of what makes the journey exciting. One day, I would love to play at Augusta National. Watching it on television, it looks like one of the most beautiful golf courses in the world, and it would be a dream come true to experience it for myself.
